“Restoration of a forgotten hiking path”

After all the travels to Bojensi, Damián, one of the Spanish volunteers, asked if he could restore a hiking path that he discovered in bad conditions. When we allowed him to do it, he worked hard to make his new goal real, being in a couple of times helped by Matteo. He did all by himself, from the list of things that he had to do, to the manual tasks passing by the organization of the activities, asking a couple of times for free time for being able to finish his new personal project.

During three weeks, he started to walk almost every day with the objective of finishing his path. The first day, he only went there to do the path and take notes about the things to do. After the plan and the list, he usually went for a couple of hours to work there, spending most of the time walking, because to reach the path he had to walk twenty minutes from his house. Once he arrived at his new work area, he walked along the path, correcting the things that he considered necessarily. During his long walk, he repainted some signs, made new signs, cut branches, cleared the path and at some points made the path. Those things were totally necessarily because along the path, in some occasions, he got temporally lost due to that at some points several paths appeared and there was not a sign. After his work that never happened again.

One special point with a lot of work was almost at the end. At some point, one tree felt and cut the path, although Damián created a new path through the forest, using branches to delimitate the sides and some signs to make it easy to follow. After that, at the real end or the beginning, depending of your direction, the path was totally covered by the branches of the trees, making impossible know if there was a path there. The general feeling when you see that was like “If I take this path, I will get lost”, because even at the other side wasn’t a path, only a big valley with some trees. But now, thanks to Damián and Matteo, at that point you can find signs and the beginning is a real path, not been covered by the branches of the trees anymore.
