Many youngsters are obese and get diabetes at early age, but this could be prevented by cutting off unhealthy food and staying away from excessive sugar. That’s why it is important to pay consciously attention to reducing the consumption of sugar and keeping healthy diet as one of the backbone of the healthy lifestyle among young people.
“Oh My Sugar!” is a youth exchange from young people to young people, where learning is based on non-formal education methods, with NO TEACHER OR TRAINER. Learning will happen in the atmosphere where young people can learn from each other, with planned daily schedule, set learning objectives and outcomes! All the participants will contribute to the carrying out activities during the youth exchange!
During the youth exchange participants will discover the basics of healthy eating . They will prepare a healthy daily menu, which will be eaten in wild nature , developing group work skills and learning about other cultures . They will do visual experiments about the sugar amounts in food and drinks we consume daily. Also participants will be searching for commercials from the city which influence people to consume more sugars and unhealthy food. There will also be workshops where they will try some alternative ways to use sugar , like arts or making a body scrub. During the youth exchange we also will visit factories which produce high sugar level food and drinks. Participants can see how much unhealthy products are produced daily and can realize it as a huge health risk for all. During the youth exchange participants will also make a video which can make other youngsters aware of the amounts of
sugar they consume daily and influence to decrease it. Video will be posted to social media by participants to pay attention to the issue. After the youth exchange we hope that our participants will be more aware of the topic and will share their knowledge with their friends and also we hope they can do healthier choices from then on .

Main aim of the youth exchange “Oh My Sugar” is to promote healthy lifestyles among young
people:
● To make them aware of impacts and possible consequences of overuse of sugar.
● To draw their attention to high sugar content products harmfulness and to make them aware of healthier choices.
● To develop their critical thinking and conscious healthier choice making in everyday life.
● To introduce them social media and video editing operation principles for promoting healthy lifestyles.
● To draw attention of young people’s healthier dietary choices through social media.
● To encourage an intercultural dialogue among young people through a healthy diet.

Participant`s profile required:

English level ( at least Medium level speaking and writing);

Youth workers;

Committed to contribute to the follow up of the project;

Gender Balance have to be followed as much as possible (3 Male and 3 Female participant per country);

People who are able to build new partnerships and cooperation for future projects within Erasmus+ and others programmes in the field of youth with disabilities;

Be interested in developing competences and implement follow-up initiatives;

Be aware of the characteristics of the learning environment (non-formal education);

Some priority will be given to youth belonging from minority groups or facing economic difficulties, coming from rural areas or with other disadvantaged backgrounds, as well as participants from Tryavna or the region.

Venue:

During the APV, group leaders will be most likely accommodated in the hostel with shared rooms (3-4 persons per room), located in the old town of Tartu.
During the YE, all the participants and group leaders will be accommodated in the shared rooms (most likely 3-5 persons per room) with different nations in order to increase intercultural experience and learning during the YE.
