“The more aware – the closer to the Labour Market”
The economic and social crisis in Europe has led to alarming rates of unemployment, especially for young people. Unemployment rates are particularly high in most EU countries while youth unemployment rates are generally much higher, even double compared with other age groups. In countries such as Greece, Italy and others, the youth unemployment rates are approaching or have exceeded 50%, creating seriousconcern. The youth unemployment has profound effects on a personal and social level. In this context, the ultimate goal of the project is to contribute to enhancing the employability of young people in Europe. To achieve the above goal, a number of objectives have been set:
Creating a reflection on the high unemployment of young people and highlighting the importance of the problem.
Raising young people’s awareness on the issue of unemployment and empowering them to put pressure for further measures against youth unemployment and to promote the message.
Development of young people’s skills so that they can “present” themselves effectively in the labor market.
Informing young people of the benefits of non-formal learning and volunteering.
Facilitating the exchange of views between young people from different countries, promoting mutual understanding and cooperation.
52 young participants aged 18 to 30 years and 13 Youth Leaders from different cultural, social and economic backgrounds with keen interest and concern for these issues and characterized by a strong need to further explore them will be the main exchange group and will contribute to its preparation, implementation, evaluation, communication and results’ dissemination. The activity will be implemented by three (3) youth workers from Greece.
These young people will gather for eight days in the city of Athens and will participate in a series of ctivities concerning youth unemployment. They will be familiarized with intervention ways, they will conduct awareness activities, will get to know the future professions and will gain skills on effectively presenting themselves in a job interview, writing a CV and other related matters.
The project methodology is based on methods of non-formal learning, peer learning, active involvement of the participants and equal cooperation between the partners.
All activities have an interactive character, promote experiential learning, require the active participation of young people and enhance their creativity.
Main results of the project will be youth information on the data related to unemployment, their awakening and mobilization for action, their empowerment and the development of skills useful in finding a job, the increase of their confidence and their readiness to take more informed decisions about educational and career paths. In the long-term it is expected a growth in the opportunities that will be provided to young people to develop their skills, quantitative and qualitative increase of the initiatives aiming at increasing the employability of young people, further measures and the creation of more targeted policies, the active participation of the young people in lobbying activities and thereby the creation of more employment opportunities for young people.
Main learning Outcomes:
Participants in the project will acquire / improve the following knowledge, skills and attitudes / behaviors:
• Familiarize themselves with the issue of youth unemployment in Europe, get to know the situation in other countries and gain a deeper understanding of the phenomenon (personal and social factors).
• Be aware of measures and policies that can contribute to tackling youth unemployment, but also ways to act themselves and put pressure on national and European measures, as well as awakening their peers.
• Learn to conduct awareness-raising activities on unemployment by using social media to spread the messages they want.
• They will know professions that present demand today as well as professions that seem to create job opportunities in the future and will be better prepared to choose the career they want to follow.
• They will learn the different skills they need in the workplace and will distinguish those that are basic in each occupation being better prepared to design their future educational choices.
• Develop their skills in effectively presenting themselves in a job interview.
• They will learn how to draft an “attractive” CV in European standards.
• Become familiar with professional platforms and tools that can create their professional profile and learn to create their profile.
• Understand how the Youth Pass Certificate, non-formal education and volunteering can help to find a job.
Participant`s profile required:
- Young people 16 – 30 years old.
- With keen interest on exploring the topic of youth unemployment
- Eager to take action against youth unemployment or have already participated in such initiatives
- Unemployed youngsters willing to know more about searching a job
- Youngsters that have voluntary and non-formal learning experiences that helped them find a job
- Very good level of English
- Ability to take part in all project stages: in preparation activities, project itself and in follow up activities on local level after return home;
- Participants will have the possibility to present their cultures and their traditions, during informal moments as well as Intercultural night activity;
- Some priority will be given to youth belonging from minority groups or facing economic difficulties, coming from rural areas or with other disadvantaged backgrounds, as well as participants from Tryavna or the region.

Participants will be divided in rooms of 2/3 people by gender (each room has its own bathroom). You will share the rooms either with one to two other people from all the different countries, so you can get to know each other better!
Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be served in the hotel. The activities will take place in the hotel’s meeting room.
And please don’t forget to inform us of any dietary requirements (e.g.: if you vegetarian/have allergies etc.)
How to reach the hostel:
The bus station is located between Exit 4 and 5 at the arrivals level. From there you will take the bus X96 with direction to Piraeus/ ΠΕΙΡΑΙΑ. The bus needs around 50 minutes to reach the hotel. The bus stop that you will get off is “3rd station of Glyfada”.To reach the hotel you have to cross the road at the traffic lights and go backwards appr. 200meters.The hotel is located just next to petrol station called “EKO”.
Get your tickets: Tickets are available from the bus drivers, from the ticket kiosk at the bus departure area and from all the metro stations around Athens.
Ticket price: There are only one-way tickets and cost 6.00 €. Children under 6 years can travel free. Half price tickets at 3,00 € are available for:
– Students upon showing their Student Card (University ID) plus Passport or ID
– People of age 6 to 18 years old
– People older than 65 years when showing their ID
Do not forget to validate your ticket when you enter the bus.
Express Bus X96 runs 24hours every 20′ – 30 ‘.
All the training will be done through the methods of non-formal education. The activities will be for example brain storming’s, plenary discussions, simulations, role plays, team building, energizers, ice breakers and many others. Non formal education we remember you that is voluntary, no hierarchical and all its methods are based on the concept of learning by doing.
What to bring with me:
- As for the weather, the autumn should be coming to an end and occasional showers may occur. The average temperature between November and December is around 10 degrees. Celsius. Make sure you dress appropriately. Swimming costume may come handy, too as there is a small Aquapark in Lesko
- There might occur short trips around the place to show you around, so a pair of comfortable shoes will be a good choice.
- Please make sure all the participants in your group have been insured.
- As this is a seminar is focused on entrepreneurship, it is necessary that all participants have or had sth to do with it.
- International evenings will offer the chance to present your country. We would appreciate samples of your local cuisine and something typical for your country
What we expect from you to present in these nights are: local or national dances, local music, games, little sweets, drinks, pictures, etc. from your countries.
Every country will prepare a short presentation of their culture, using all kinds of methods. It’s preferred a short and FUNNY presentation, such as showing pictures and commenting it, quiz, short video (either already existing or made by you), etc. (YES – use your creativity!). For the intercultural night, we ask you to prepare in advance a brief performance (singing, your traditional music, popular dances) to present your group (typical costumes are really welcomed!).
The main idea of this presentation is: What is important for a stranger to know about my country?
Any kind of presentation is granted, better not to do a power-point presentation to avoid yawning.
The Intercultural night is the “most wanted event” on the beginning of the youth exchange. It is a sort of traditional night opened to all participant audience made up of our group leaders, youth workers, facilitators, participants to the exchange. All National groups are asked to perform briefly (10 for your NGO and country/city not more, and 10 min for traditional dances and music) in order to introduce their self. Certainly, we need your enthusiasm and energy!!
For the Intercultural evening a Swedish buffet (cold buffet) will be organized. Here every country will bring traditional food dishes. The food that will be brought must be eatable without any processing (boiling, frying, etc). The dishes must also be accompanied by a brief description (their origin and ingredients, the way they are eaten…)
100% of the participants‘ travel costs will be reimbursed within the valid budget sums calculated according to the official rules of Erasmus+ programme. If a sum exceeds the limit, the excess will be paid by the participants themselves. The reimbursement limit is 275€ per participant from Bulgaria.
Reimbursement of the travel costs will only be done after submitting all original tickets, receipt/invoices, boarding passes and later sending of the return documents and boarding passes. Save the boarding passes from your airport check in as well. Please, be aware that in case you loose any invoices or tickets we will not be able to reimburse the cost. Reimbursement will be done in EURO, regardless of the currency indicated on your ticket and receipt/invoice according to the official currency exchange rate of European Commission.
! Note: in case of higher travel cost, you will need to cover excess yourself.
Please note that full completion and attending to the programme is mandatory to qualify for a refund. There can be no late arrivals or early departures. If you wish to stay longer for a touristic visit, please consider that the extra days prior or after the seminar are at your own expenses as there will be little time for this during the programme.
Important: It will be send only one bank transfert per Country . The recipient of the reimbursement is the partner association, not the participants according to the funding National Agency rules. To receive reimbursement participants should attend all the planned progamme elements (before, during and after the project activities).
Project is supported by “Erasmus+” program. Accommodation, meals, program and travel cost (based on distance) are covered from grant. There is NO participation fee. However, 15 BGN will be deductuted from the travel costs or paid to the sending organisation from each participant, in order to be covered the different taxes, related to the participation of each representative from Bulgaria (bank transfer fees, post expenses, difference in the exchange rates, etc.). In case the organisation is covering the tickets, each participant must transfer a guarantee of 100 BGN, to the organisation`s public bank accont to ensure his/her`s participation and if he/she cancels his/her`s participation, the sum will be used to cover the change of the name for the flight ticket, which has been bought already.
The travel insurance is not mandatory but it is highly reccommended. It costs 1 BGN/day and covers all the common injuries during projects up to 5000 Euro. Our organization is not covering insurance, it is individual, but we are going to support you to obtain a proper insurance for the duration of the project. Every participant is individually entitled to receive a Youthpass Certificate, which confirms participation and validates the non-formal learning (NFL) experience of Training course project. Validating the learning experiences of participants is important in itself and the document can be of benefit in terms of the educational or employment future of the participant. Through Youthpass the European Commission ensures the Training course activity is recognized as a non-formal learning experience.
